Bellstone supplies a number of products that are ideal for use around swimming pools. Our faith is supported by independent tests for slip resistance to ensure safety when the surface becomes wet. It is also vital to ensure that the stone used is not susceptible to decay caused by pool chemicals e.g. salt

Willow Sandstone Paving - Outdoor Patio & Pool Deck
This premium quality sandstone is a popular product for pool and patio paving. It is light coloured and reflects the heat and has soft pastel colours - green cream and gold that will transform the appearance of any leisure or recreational area.
Like all sandstone, Willow is porous so the builders wisely treated the stone with 2 - 3 coats of a solvent based, penetrating sealant. The sandstone bullnose copings were treated top, bottom and sides for added protection against salt damage. The capillary action of water carrying soluble salt under the stone and along the substrate is potentially far more damaging than surface water.

Bellambi Bluestone - Pool Apron
Bellambi bluestone used around a pool on a rural property south of Sydney (1st image) and a landscaped pool and garden on the north shore (2nd image). The light grey tones of this very hard, dense bluestone creates a unique colour and texture around the pool. The flamed finish is an ideal surface for outdoor areas because of its good slip resistance.

A very creative design using different formats of Sofala and Grey Gum quartzite in combination; the result is really effective. Quartzite is well suited to pools because of its high resistance to salt attack.

Quartzite is a really tough stone with excellent slip resistance; it also handles water easily and is remarkably resistant to chlorine and salt.
