Bellambi Bluestone Unique - Brilliant Quality with Few Holes

Yes holes! Bluestone comes from basalt - a volcanic derivative. Poor quality bluestone, as it is more commonly called, can have a high frequency of holes in the stone - sometimes the holes can be quite big! The holes can affect the durability of the stone.

Our bluestone has holes too - but they are very small and hard to see and that's why the density and strength of the stone is so high.

We have been amazed at the popularity of flamed bluestone for pools and patios because the grey colour does tend to hold the heat. Our customers tell us they like the product because unlike light surfaces, they don't get any glare.

Bluestone’s toughness gives it excellent wear and tear resistance; bluestone is used for structural work because of its high compressive strength and durability. The dark colour of bluestone makes it ideal for heavy traffic areas as it doesn't show the dirt.

Bluestone is a very tough (5 star strength rating), versatile stone and readily takes a number of finishes to suit the needs of the project. The flamed finish provides a safe, grippy surface especially on patios and verandahs that may get wet from time to time. The pavers are also favoured by landscapers for use on paths and walkways.
