Sandblasted Surface Treatment Provided Grippy, Safe Surface

The mild sandblast is very effective as it softens the grain and colour of the stone. It has a similar surface to the finely chipped or "sparrow pecked" surfaces on many of the lovely old heritage buildings. The treatment is time consuming because the stone requires honing first but its effective because it creates a beach sand "character".

Balmoral sandstone was commissioned by Bellstone for use as a cladding product for buildings and to adorn ugly concrete and besser brick retaining walls. It has been surprisingly popular as an outdoor paving product as well.

Balmoral Sandstone - Appealing Light Colours

Balmoral sandstone like all stone has an appealing range of colours as you can see in the image below. This photo like others on this website has been set up so that the full range of colour is displayed. You will notice the range goes from a stark white through to ginger. Sometimes, a little olive grain is visible. Because of the light colours, pre-sealing is recommended to avoid grout stains or residues.

Balmoral - Himalayan Sandstone?

Himalayan sandstone is Indian in origin as is Balmoral sandstone. Balmoral is indeed Himalayan stone or Himalayan sandstone, as it is sometimes called even though "Himalayan" is a generic name that refers to one of the hundreds of different types of sandstone imported from India.
