Cupa R6 Roof Slate - The Pick of Spanish Roofing Slates

The Spanish R6 roof slate is a premium grade, dark grey, non-fading slate with a very fine grain and smooth surface that makes it ideal for any roof construction or restoration work.

Spanish quarries are required by the government to be identified with discrete numbers. Cupa have many quarries all of which are referred to by their numbers whereas in other parts of the world they generally have names.Over time we have found that the slate from quarry #6 has performed the best under Australian conditions. The slate from this particular Spanish quarry is very consistent, cleaves thin and lies flat on the roof with very few warped slates or "kickers".

Tests on Cupa R6 roofing slates have consistently shown no evidence of iron pyrites that are present in many other Spanish slates. The ASTM (American Society of Testing Materials) rating of S1 means the estimated lifetime performance of the slate is 75 years or more. This is a significant achievement for a Spanish roof slate and one that provides architects great confidence when specifying Cupa 6 for roofing projects. R6 Roofing Slate - What Does It Mean?

There are several grades of roofing slate produced from quarry #6; as in all our products, Bellstone distributes only the top (primera) line which is signified by the letter R. The slates are therefore referred to as R6's.

Spanish Cupa R6 roof slates are produced at the Los Campos quarry owned and operated by Cupa Pizarras S.A, at San Pedro de Trones in the north west of Spain. For technical information on Cupa slates visit their website at www.cupa.es
