Chandra Sandstone Tiles, Pavers & Cladding from Bellstone, Sydney Wholesalers

Sandstone Tiles - Safe When Wet

Sandstone tiles and pavers have excellent slip resistance which makes them a safe surface for kids that travel at speed! Slip resistance tests results on Bellstone products reveal that they have excellent grip characteristics and provide extremely safe surfaces to walk on in outdoor arenas, especially when wet.

Chandra Sandstone Durability

As you will see from the stone quality ratings at the foot of the page, Chandra is one of the toughest and most durable sandstone products in the world. Its density and flexural strength is extraordinary. It also has extremely high resistance to salt attack making it  suitable for use in coastal environments that have salt air.

Himalayan Stone - Chandra Sandstone?

Himalayan sandstone or Himalayan stone is mostly sourced from Rajasthan in India - and yes Chandra comes from this part of India. In Australia, Indian sandstone is frequently and inaccurately marketed as “Himalayan stone” – no sandstone is quarried from this region of India so we don't use the term as it confuses people.

Indicative Test Results

Slip resistance (AS/NZS 4586-2004) - 63V (risk of slipping when wet = very low)
Flexural strength - dried (ASTM C880) - 20.8 MPa
Flexural strength - wet (ASTM C880) - 13.6 MPa
Density (ASTM C97-02) - 2412 kg/m3
Water absorption (ASTM C97-02) by volume - 7.0%
